Belleville’s New Meramax Out-Sole Compared to Vibram sierra Outsole
New Meramac Out-Sole on the Belleville Boots, Is It Better Than the Military Standard Vibram Sole
If you have the Belleville 310,610, or you have been issued a pair of the 500 or 590 USMC Bellevilles than you have or most likely have the new MeraMax Meramec 338-1 out-sole on the boots. There is not alot of information or reviews on these out-soles. Seem like they are alot softer then the Vibram sole which will add little more shock absorption and also they seem to have good oil resistance also. So if you have these soles on a pair of your boots Please let me know what you think of them. Since belleville has been using these on some of their lightweight boots the Meramax out-sole might even lighter.
The Vibram Sierra Out-sole on the other hand we do have lots of experience with the Vibram out-sole since it has been an industry standard on combat boots for years. The vibram Sierra is designed and tested by Military personnel in many different terrains and conditions. This composition flat sole has a great lifespan and the lug positioning is proven to provide great traction in wet and dry conditions. The multi directional lugs help when braking, pushing off and Stability. Vibram’s sole is also oil and slip resistant. This sole is found on most USMC and Army issued boots today. It can be found on Danner, Bates, Corcoran, and most belleville’s the belleville 500 and 590 here at Quantico boot still have the vibram sierra sole.
So the question is why change to the Meramax out-sole. The out-sole is definitely a very important feature on a boot. And many things should be considered when designing a boots Out-sole like what boot will primarily beĀ used for. The Vibram is easily replaceable and considered a running sole too which is definitely important in training environments. Please if you have any opinions on this topic let us and everyone else know what you think.
