So lets talk about the new Danner Cold Weather Mountain light USMC authorized boot, Also known as the Rugged all terrain or RAT boot. Here in Quantico, Virginia we have quite a few men wearing the new boot which has been in high demand around here mostly cause of the weather we have been getting and also cause its the newest boot to be authorized by the marines. This boot is only available by issue or in seconds from Danner factory store so I am requesting some reviews from our customers and friends who have the boot and am contacting Danner to get all the information I can about the boot. The boot is designed for the current mission in the mountains of Afghanistan. This boot is gonna have some extra features compared to the three boots already available and authorized to the Marines from danner. A few of the features added to the new USMC mountain light Boots are the edition of the rubber rand to add resistance against abrasion at the toe and ankle also, I especially like the leather strip on the back which will add to the life of the nylon upper and the loop at top help to get boots on and off easier. Some are saying they are supposed to be lighter which would be nice since the danner marine boot now is quite heavy one of the only complaints I ever get on the danner marine boot. Also hearing the they will offer insulation too but not sure about that, From what I understand it is actually a insulated sock. All of the great qualities built into the Danner Marine 26027 such as the stich down vibram sole and speed lace system is still there. Well if you have these boots please let us know what you think, I will update any new information I can get on them also. Keep checking back with quantico boot for more information on when they will be available for retail.

I own a pair of these boots, but I really can’t say too much about them. They were issued to me from my last tour to Afghanistan in 09. The Battalion was there in the summer and we really didn’t have much use for them because of the heat. I can tell you that I wore them on my last hump and they held up ok. It was our first since being back in the states and we didn’t really go that far, so maybe I’ll let you know more once we get going in the next few months. I’m looking at purchasing a pair of Danner’s, but the price keeps getting in the way; $190, may have to wait for the uniform allowance to hit. I’ll be in touch.
please tell me where I can get such boots size 10EE??
They are not available yet only for issue to the marines being deployed to Afghanistan or Iraq the only other way is to buy the blemish/defective ones from the Danner Factory store. Hopefully they will be available for retail soon though they are talking of releasing the boot without the EGA first though.
I just got a pair of the civilian version of these boots same exact boot just no EGA. I got the waterproof boots with gore-tex lining. They fit and feel great cant wait to get some time in them they are to hot for the summer temperatures we have been getting here in Quantico,VA but I will be wearing them as often as possible and will be leaving more comments on them soon. Hopefully they will be releasing the civilian version for sale soon and then Hopefully the Marine Corp ones will follow. Will be posting more information on these boots soon and some more pics soon.
I have a pair of these brand new in the box. Size 12R. If you are interested, email me cwkimbrough@gmail.com
Just a couple of weeks ago, I received a pair of the civilian version of these boots. The bottom line up front is that I have never owned another pair of boots as comfortable and supportive as these. Having served in the military for about 10 years, I have had all types of boots, both issued and purchased on my own.
Danner earned a life-long customer the moment I first put this boot on. When I received them, I put them on and headed out for a two-mile hike. I didn’t have any blisters or discomfort. Although I have worn them everyday for the last two weeks because they are so comfortable, there was no necessary “break in” period.
A few days ago, I went hiking again, but this time on some rough trails – over rocks and boulders and through streams and brush. Again, no blisters or discomfort!! Additionally, I have a bit of a wide foot and there is plenty of breathing room with this boot.
The icing on the cake with this boot is that it is made in the U.S.A! I look forward to many, many good years of service with my new Danner RAT boot.
Lastly, Fox River makes some great moisture wicking socks. I picked up a couple pairs of moisture wicking socks from Quantico Boot and those socks work great as well. Quantico Boot is a great store with an awesome customer service staff. I highly recommend them.
Id LOVE a pair of these without the EGA. They aren’t listed on Danner’s website yet, though, without the emblem, and I won’t wear it otherwise. Im not a Marine. I hope they release open civvie issue soon.
Why cant we wear these in the rear? anyone know if the order has changed yet? Im in the snow and being told not to wear them. me and my common sense.
The Smaj just sent out an all hands saying that we can wear them in the rear when not in fromations or parades.
Also, these are probably the best boots I have ever worn, bar none!
