On Choosing Boots
The right Military Boot depends entirely on your Military Occupational Specialty(MOS). Flight MOS’s obviously need boots that reduce Flying Object Debris (FOD), have a slip-resistant sole (especially anyone flying CH-53′s) and won’t melt to their feet in a fire. Grunts and other ground combat MOS’s are going to want boots that provide excellent heel stabilization, ankle support, with tough soles that give all-day support, and uppers that wick moisture.
At Quantico Boot, we believe the most important consideration for Military Boots is the toe box. The toe box should allow room for the toes to slide forward slightly in the boot during a run or ruck march without striking the front of the boot while keeping the ball of the foot properly centered. Belleville Boots have a toe box that is better suited to individuals with toes that are more squared off. Bates Boots are more comfortable to individuals who’s toes taper back from the big toe to the pinky.
We would love to hear your opinion. What is your most important consideration when choosing your next boot?
